Externally, the relay is a small block with two springs for setting the maximum and minimum pressure. Their tension is easily adjusted with special nuts. This can be checked with an ordinary mechanical pressure gauge with an empty tank and a pump disconnected from the mains. Due to the fact that this device has a metal case, its readings are more accurate than those of fellows made of plastic. To measure the pressure, unscrew the small cap on the body of the empty tank, then connect the pressure gauge and take the reading.

The subtleties of adjusting the water pressure switch for the pump
To set specific values of the pressure level, you need to adjust the pressure switch of the water pump. To do this, you need to carry out the following manipulations:
- Fill the tank until the pressure gauge shows the required maximum value.
- Switch off the pumping station.
- After opening the relay case, you need to gradually rotate the small nut until the internal mechanism works. Clockwise rotation - increasing the pressure level, counter - decreasing.
- To set the lower parameter, the water from the tank is gradually drained by opening the tap.
- As soon as the pressure gauge has reached the required mark, the water drain is stopped.
- To adjust the lower pressure, turn the large nut, also until the contacts are triggered.
Useful advice! The procedure for checking or setting the level of indicators is recommended to be carried out not only during the initial setup, but also every month or at least every quarter during operation.
With a small range between the upper and lower pressure limits, the pumping station rather pumps up water, creating a constant average level of this indicator in the water supply system. In this case, the water pressure will be uniform and comfortable. If, by adjusting the water pressure switch, a wider range is set for the pump, then the equipment will turn on less often. With this setting, the station will turn on less often and will last much longer.
Useful advice! When adjusting, remember that the minimum difference between the lower and upper limits can be at least 1 atmosphere.
Dry run protection
A fairly frequent cause of breakdowns during the operation of pumping stations is the lack of water in the system. Loading the pump without water leads to deformation of internal parts and failure of all equipment.

The lack of fluid in the system can be caused by the following reasons:
- fluid consumption is significantly greater than the volume of a well or well;
- interruptions in the supply of water in the summer;
- accidents on water supply systems.
To guard against such troubles, there are relays with dry running protection. Such equipment provides for the possibility of opening the contacts, in which the pump is completely turned off. Usually this indicator is set by the plant at about 0.5 atmospheres and is not subject to adjustment. It will be possible to start the pumping station engine only when the normal amount of water in the system is restored.
Also, manufacturers can offer another type of protective equipment. Flow switch supplemented with functions pressure switch, also effectively protects against breakage in the absence of water. This sensor shuts down the system in the event of no flow or a head drop of less than 1 atmosphere.
Useful advice! When adjusting the water pressure switch for the pump, remember the manufacturer's declared capacity of the station itself. If the station cannot produce a water pressure of more than 5 atmospheres, then there is no point in adjusting it to a large point.
